In a world where entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as a driving force for economic development and social impact, one question remains: how do we ensure early-stage businesses have the support they need to scale and thrive? At Emerge Livelihoods, we asked ourselves the same question and found the answer in a bold and new initiative: Emerge Fund.

Launched in 2024, Emerge Fund is not just a financing mechanism. It’s a movement designed to accelerate impact, innovation, and inclusive growth. As a subsidiary of Emerge Livelihoods, the fund exists to amplify the potential of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Malawi by accelerating growth from startup to scale-up while creating lasting change in communities and the environment.

Across Malawi, countless entrepreneurs are developing powerful solutions in areas like climate adaptation, green innovation, and sustainable livelihoods. Yet, access to capital and tailored support remains a major barrier to growth. Emerge Fund seeks to change this status quo.

By offering flexible debt financing alongside hands-on support and strategic guidance, Emerge Fund is helping to build a more resilient and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. The focus? Scalable ventures with real potential to create jobs, uplift communities, and respond to environmental challenges.

At Emerge Fund, our approach goes beyond providing capital. We equip entrepreneurs with the tools, guidance, and opportunities to build resilient and scalable businesses. We recognize that financial support alone isn’t enough, which is why we combine our investment solutions with strong technical and advisory support.

One of the core pillars of our work is advisory support. We connect businesses with seasoned experts who provide personalized coaching in critical areas such as enterprise management, financial modeling, and environmental sustainability. This support is designed to help entrepreneurs build strong operational foundations that will carry them beyond the early stages of growth.

Through our Emerge4Biz platform, delivered by the parent organisation Emerge Livelihoods, we offer incubation and acceleration services tailored to make enterprises investment-ready. The platform equips entrepreneurs with strategic insights, business development skills, and peer learning experiences. What makes Emerge4Biz even more impactful is that its alumni gain priority access to Emerge Fund’s flexible financing—making it a seamless pipeline from training to capital.

Additionally, Emerge Fund plays a key role in fund management and climate financing, acting as a locally led intermediary that champions MSMEs with environmentally focused innovations. We work closely with governments, development partners, corporations, and investors to design localized funding solutions that address real challenges facing emerging enterprises. This collaborative approach ensures that our support is not only relevant but also rooted in long-term, systemic change.

Through this holistic model, we are building a supportive ecosystem where entrepreneurs don’t just receive funding—they receive the knowledge, mentorship, and networks necessary to thrive.

Emerge Fund recognizes the support of our founding partner, Ondernemers voor Ondernemers vzw (OVO)—a Belgium-based non-profit dedicated to advancing sustainable entrepreneurship in Africa. OVO supported the operationalization of Emerge Fund with an initial capital investment of €120,000, helping us lay a strong foundation for long-term impact.

Whether you are an investor looking for impactful ventures, a development partner seeking local collaboration, or an entrepreneur ready to scale, we would love to connect with you.
