Emerge Livelihoods, in partnership with Digital Opportunity Trust through the Going Beyond Project, has trained and deployed 23 youth leaders to conduct Digital Business Facilitation for 1725 youth-led enterprises in Mzuzu City, Nkhatabay, Mzimba and Kasungu district
During the 3-week intense training that incorporated a hybrid approach, the Youth Leaders were introduced to the use of Moodle (Conductor) Self-Paced Learning to ensure that they familiarize themselves with the project and modules, an online training and also a physical Trainer of Trainers Session.
All these sessions encompassed various modules that included gender and safeguarding, strategic communication for youth-led impact, introduction to Google Workspace, community entry, mobilization and introduction to facilitation. These modules have been developed to equip these youth leaders with practical skills that will be essential during facilitation and community engagement.
“Through the 3-week Training of Trainers, I have been equipped with practical skills in digital business planning, marketing strategies, and effective facilitation techniques. This knowledge has boosted my confidence and prepared me to deliver impactful sessions that inspire and empower young people to grow their businesses and livelihoods.” – Dorothy Mkandawire
“(These skills)will guide my contribution to the Digital Business Delivery program. This knowledge allows me to understand how digital solutions can effectively address real-life challenges. To deliver my best during the program, I plan to stay focused, actively participate, and apply innovative thinking. I will work collaboratively, take initiative in problem-solving, and remain committed to creating meaningful and impactful results throughout the duration of the program.” – Lusungu Chikopa
The Digital Business trainings will be delivered within 6 weeks, where every youth leader is set to support 75 youth-led businesses within their communities on the use of digital technology and other capacity building trainings, including business plans, business registration, marketing and record keeping for profit.
Programs Officer for the Project under Emerge Livelihoods, Tamandani Chawanda, describes the 3-week training session for the young graduates as a leveled playground for them to be able to exchange insights and tips on how to make the project a success and also incorporate the community in the delivery of the program.
The 3-week training focused on equipping and preparing the youth leaders with the necessary tools to successfully deliver the Digital Business Program to entrepreneurs in their communities. Working alongside these passionate leaders who are committed to creating transformative change in their communities was such an inspiring experience.
The Going Beyond Project is implemented by Emerge Livelihoods in partnership with Digital Opportunity Trust and funding from the MasterCard Foundation. The project is in its second phase of implementation.
